Action-Orientated Workstations
Agile working environments are designed to encourage adaptability, flexibility, and movement. This design concept is supported by statistics indicating that 60% of employees believe they are more productive when they can choose where and how to work, according to a report by Leesman.
These offices include diverse workstations, giving employees the freedom to choose where and how they work based on the task at hand. Often referred to as ‘hot desking,’ workers can select a suitable space to work for the day. This can include private booths and collaborative open spaces with simply a desk or equipment like computers or inspirational resources and materials.
Collaborative Workspaces
Teamwork continues to be a cornerstone of modern work. According to Gensler's Workplace Survey in 2020, 49% of employees believe they are more effective when working in a space designed for collaboration. These workplaces value sharing ideas and creatively brainstorming and problem-solving together.
In these office spaces, an open-plan concept works best. Creating comfortable spaces where employees can gather around will foster collaboration, with more formal meeting rooms as well as informal comfortable lounge spaces.
Focused Offices
In focused working environments, deep concentration and undisturbed focus are crucial for many tasks. This includes writing, coding, data analysis, and complex problem-solving.
A global report revealed that 95% of global workers are dissatisfied with their work environment's acoustics and noise levels, highlighting the need for well-designed focus spaces. This illustrates the need for offices designed for focused work.
Minimalist design with private workstations minimises distractions. Applying colour theory with hues of white and blue can also help in creating conducive working conditions.
The Benefits of Tailored Office Designs
Offices designed to meet an organisation’s specific goals offer many benefits. Apart from improving productivity levels, it can also enhance company culture with greater employee satisfaction and well-being. Favourable offices attract and retain top talent. Additionally, when organisations incorporate smart design and innovation, organisations can gain a competitive advantage.
It’s clear to see that modern workplaces require more than a one-size-fits-all office. Organisations that embrace the concept of designing workspaces to suit their goals and the nature of their work, be it action-orientated, collaborative, or focused. This design philosophy meets diverse business and employee needs with adequate conditions and support to improve productivity, foster innovation, and enhance employee satisfaction.
